Almond milk is a drink that has been around basically since the middle ages.It consists of the almond nut ground down to a powder then mixed with water to produce the substance.
Is it good for you?
Previously we looked at the nutritious benefits of almonds and how healthy these nuts really are.Essentially almond milk is just ground nuts and water mixed together into a milky substance full of goodness and minerals. Its a lot healthier than cows milk and contains far less chemicals. It also contains more vitamins and minerals than soy or rice milk.Often rice milk will have to be fortified with calcium and vitamin D to bring its nutritional value up.These milks like soy or rice are an excellent replacement to dairy if one has an allergy to this but you will have to look for the especially fortified variety that has the needed vitamins and minerals.Almond milk on the other hand has all the vitamins and minerals already and there is no need to fortify it which means you will be able to make it at home.
