Almonds also contain chemicals called phytochemicals that protect against cardiovascular disease and cancer A Loma Linda School of Public Health did a study of almonds and confirmed that those who ate nuts five times a week had a massive 50% reduction in risk of heart attack, there cholesterol came down to an acceptable level and none of the patients gained weight. I bet you didn’t know that. Another incredible fact, 1 ounce of almonds contains 12% of your bodies allowed daily intake of protein, also an added extra….. no cholesterol!  You will also get 35% of your daily intake of vitamin E useful in fighting off cancerous diseases and you will get as much calcium as 1/4 cup of milk. If you’re pregnant and need folic acid, almonds are an excellent source.
